MEDIA COMMENT Monday 14th July 2008 Transform Scotland welcome for Transport Scotland
order for new electric trains Paul Tetlaw, Chair of sustainable transport campaign group Transform Scotland, said: "The order for new electric trains is welcome
on two counts.Firstly, we need to increase the capacity of our railway
system to allow more people to travel comfortably by train. Equally important
is that these will be electric trains and so we are investing in transport technology
that is not dependent on oil - critical not only for our future energy
security but also to reduce our climate change emissions." ENDS |
