Comment on Edinburgh tram funding announcement:
Welcome for Ministerial go-ahead for trams
TRANSform Scotland welcomed today's announcement
that the Scottish Ministers have approved funding for work to commence
on the Edinburgh tram project. [1] [2]
Paul Tetlaw, Chair of TRANSform Scotland, said:
"We welcome transport minister Tavish Scott's approval for work to
begin on Edinburgh's new tram system.
"It is essential that we invest in high quality public transport
in Scotland's cities if we are to remain competitive. Across Europe over
250 towns and cities already enjoy light rail systems so we have a lot
of catching up to do. We urge politicians of all parties to ensure that
this project now moves forward to completion - in the shortest possible
time."
