Transport campaign travels into cyberspace!
25 August 1998
This week, TRANSform Scotland (1) launches its internet web site with news of its transport politics conference being held this Friday. (2) The site officially goes online this Wednesday, 26th August, at the address:
http://www.transformscotland.org.uk
Colin Howden, TRANSform Scotland Campaign Manger, said:
"This site will become a valuable source of information on Scottish transport. Last month Transport Secretary John Prescott stressed how important information was for people in planning their journeys by public transport, whether by phone, from the media, or from the internet. We hope this site will help in promoting better ways to travel."
The site was designed for TRANSform Scotland by students on a graduate training course run by NetCon-X.(3)
Graham Stein, website coordinator, said:
"With over 100 pages already on the site, the requirements of simple navigation, quick download times and easy maintenance provided an exciting challenge. Information on transport and how this affects the environment mustn't be restricted to politicians and transport professionals - we hope we've done our bit to address this."
